Khurda: In a major crackdown, a joint team of senior officials from Nirakarpur and Jankia police stations busted a notorious inter-state dacoity gang Sunday afternoon.
At least three members of the gang were arrested by police.
According to sources, the arrested were identified as Anil Sundaray of Nirakarpur, Siddhant Swain of Padmapur and Pitambar Baliarsingh of Jankia areas in Khurda. The gang was involved in a recent dacoity at Paikaray petrol pump in Rameswar on NH-16 of the district, Khurda SP Raj Kishore Dora said at a presser held here.

Cash of Rs 1,17,000 including a country-made pistol, two rounds of live bullets and sharp weapons were seized from the possession of the arrested persons, a member of the special police squad stated.
The gang was allegedly involved in the petrol pump dacoity which had taken place April 15. Cash of around Rs 5,50,000 was looted from an employee of the petrol pump. Other members of the gang will be arrested soon, Dora added.
