Bhubaneswar: Two persons sustained injuries when police caned protesters who ransacked the district Collector’s office here Tuesday morning demanding solutions to various issues.
Sources said around a thousand people including members of the Tangi Janajagarana Mahamenta, Tangi block residents and its local representatives, were present in the demonstration. The protesters broke into the Collector’s office and damaged a few flower pots.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and tried to disperse the violent protestors.
The situation turned worse when the agitators clashed with the cops, following which, the latter had to resort to lathi charge. Two persons sustained injuries and were later admitted to a nearby hospital.
