Police conference from Jan 17

Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma will inaugurate the 61st Senior Police Officers’ Conference of Odisha Police scheduled to be held here from January 17 to 19.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will grace the conference on its concluding day. The Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner-cum-additional chief secretary, Home department and State Finance Secretary will also interact with the participants.

The participants will deliberate on various professional policing subjects like law and order, crime scenario of the state, left wing extremism, police arrangement for mega events, improving road safety, moving towards paperless police station.

Issues related to state Vigilance, home guards and fire services and Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation will also be discussed.

Besides this, for the first time some guest speakers who have authority in their respective fields have also been invited to share their experiences thoughts and ideas on the topics like ‘Role of a leader in transforming organisation’, ‘Investigation of cybercrime’, ‘Monitoring of social media’ and ‘Enhanced use of Forensics’.

Senior Police officers’ Conference is an annual exercise undertaken by the State Police to review, introspect, debate and deliberate on professional subjects with a view to working out concrete action plans and strategies to handle current and emerging challenges to policing.
