Police move court for Golden Baba’s remand

Odisha: Police takes ITR official on four day remand for sharing classified defence information

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has moved the court to take arrested Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias Golden Baba on remand, said Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo Wednesday.

A manhunt was launched after a case was registered against him at Chandrasekharpur police station December 7, 2018. He had duped a person of Rs 12.04 crore on the pretext of sanctioning loans from finance companies.

The incident came to light after a cheque issued by him bounced and further the bank detected forgery in the second cheque issued by him and blocked the payment.

Following this, Chandrasekharpur Police arrested the Golden Baba Monday. He has been booked and forwarded to court under Sections 467, 468, 471, 420 and 511 of the IPC.

The DCP said the Golden Baba’s involvement in other cases is being examined and will be interrogated further once brought on remand.
