Puri: Bhaskar Sahoo, the man who was detained for hurling ink at Odisha 5T Secretary VK Pandian in Puri district Saturday, has been released from detention, a source said Sunday.
The source informed that following several rounds of questioning, police released Sahoo late Saturday night.
“My protest was over several issues in the area including Daya river protection, wastewater from Bhubaneswar etc. Though I had submitted several representations, no step was taken for resolving the issues including the drinking water one,” Sahoo said.
Bhaskar further informed that although his actions were not right, he will continue his protest to resolve the basic issues in his native area.
Notably, the ink hurled at Pandian also smeared the face of Puri Collector Samarth Verma. He was accompanying the 5T Secretary who was on a tour of Satyabadi to participate in an event at Utkalmani Gopabandhu Smruti Mahavidyalaya (UGS College) in Puri district. The ink-throwing incident took place while Pandian was extending greetings to members of Mission Shakti.
Following the incident, police overpowered Sahoo and detained him.
Notably, Bhaskar Sahoo is a resident of Haripur village under Kanas block in Satyabadi Assembly constituency in Puri district.
