Police rescue two minor girls while being trafficked from Odisha’s Sambalpur railway station

Sambalpur: Police rescued two minor girls from Sambalpur railway station who were being trafficked to Chennai, a source said Saturday.

According to the source, Belpahar Police rescued the minors acting on basis of a tip-off. The minors alleged that their mother and her male friend were involved in trafficking them.

Later, police detained the accused woman and her male friend.

Following the girls’ rescue, they were handed over to Childline officials. Both of them were produced before CWC (Child Welfare Committee) subsequently, the source added.

During counselling, the minors revealed that their mother and her male friend had been torturing them. They also brought in sexual assault allegations against their mother’s male friend.

Police have launched an investigation in this regard.
