Police seize Rs 34 lakh from car in Mayurbhanj, three detained

Bisoi: Police Friday night seized Rs 34,24,083 from a car at Bisoi market square in Mayubhanj district.

The car was on its way to Kolkata from Kalimati in Keonjhar district.

Police have detained an official of Infrastructure Development, a youth and the driver of the vehicle.

A patrolling team led by Bisoi police station ASI Rabi Narayan Swain was carrying out frisking operation as part of a drive to check illegal flow of money during elections.

When they inspected the car, the team found unaccounted money cash inside the car.

They immediately informed the Bisoi police station following which IIC Kuni Beshra, SI Bed Prakash Nanda and Additional Tehsildar reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

The detained persons said that the money was collected from a toll gate between March 15 and 28 and they were on their way to deposit the at a bank in Kolkata.

Rairangpur sub divisional police officer Amulya Kumar Dhar and ASP Ashok Pattanayak also reached Bisra police station as part of the investigation. Pending investigation

The money will be kept at treasury, police said.
