Polio drops given to lakhs of Ganjam kids

Berhampur: Chief District Medical Officer of Ganjam, Dr Bijya Kumar Panigrahi, launched the Pulse Polio programme by administering polio drops to children at the City Hospital here Sunday morning.

The district administration has set a target of administering Pulse Polio vaccine to 3.5 lakh children in the 0-5 age group. This campaign was opened only for this Sunday. A total of 60, 478 staff and 323 supervisors were deployed at 1617 polio booths throughout the district for smooth operation of the immunisation programme. The district administration also arranged 75 transit teams and 46 mobile booths.

District Public Health Officer, Dr Himanshubala Pattnaik, Additional District Medical Officer V Sarojini Devi, District TB Officer Dr Manoj Kumar Panda, PCC Medical Officer Dr Sitanshu Sekhar Sathpathy and District Project Coordinator of National Health Mission Shyam Sundar Tripathy were among those present at the launch event.
