Political leaders make a beeline for Nayagarh

Nayagrah: With the election for Dasapalla Assembly constituency in this district ending Thursday, the focus has now shifted to the remaining three that will go to the polls, April 23. Frontline leaders of all political parties have started visiting these three constituencies.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Nayagarh, Friday and address a gathering at the local stadium here. Top state unit BJP leaders including another central minister, Dharmendra Pradhan will accompany Singh.

The Home Minister will try through his address woo the voters who have helped BJD candidates to win in the last three terms in the Nayagarh Assembly constituency. Singh will try and encourage party workers and voters to end this BJD domination.

BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, however, stole a march over Singh by arriving at the Ranpur constituency in this district early today morning. Observers believe Naveen’s visit, the third one in a month, is to neutralise the efforts and current wave of BJP.

During his first visit March 24, he addressed a gathering at Nayagarh Stadium, asserting that the party will win all the 21 MP seat. He had said that since the BJP has not projected a proper Chief Minister candidate, it should not be voted to power to the Odisha Assembly. “Who will be BJP’s Chief Minister candidate,” he had asked sarcastically then.
