Political violence returns to Bargarh, one injured

Bargarh: Despite heavy security arrangements in place, political violence came to fore once again in Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency during the polls, Thursday.

According to reports, clash between two groups broke out at Banjari village under Sohela tehsil of Bhatli Assembly constituency. During the fight Chhotelal Patar of the said village suffered injuries in a coordinated attack by rival political activists.

Cops rescued him from the spot and moved him to Bargarh district headquarters hospital where he was given first aid. Later, he was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences in Burla after his condition deteriorated.

It may be mentioned here that Bargarh has a long history of violence during elections. There were reports of clashes at several places in Bijepur and Bhatli Assembly constituencies as recently as Wednesday .

It should be stated here that brother of then BJD minister Sushant Singh was seriously injured and his driver lost his life in a murderous attack during Bijepur by-elections last year.
