Bhubaneswar: With the BJD celebrating its 21st foundation day Wednesday, the Opposition Congress and BJP have readied their counter strategies.
While Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has decided to observe it as ‘black day’, the BJP is going to roll out raths (vehicles as chariots) seeking answers from the state government on several questions.
PCC president Niranjan Patnaik said, “We are observing black day tomorrow because the BJD government is diluting the powers guaranteed by our Constitution to the panchayats, panchayat samitis and zilla parishads. By observing the ‘black day’, we intend to expose it before the public.”
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state president Tankadhar Tripathy said they would organise state-wide ‘Jawab Maguchi Odisha’ campaigning from Wednesday.
The objective of the yatra is to aware people about the questions asked by PM Modi to the BJD government at the Khurda rally. The raths will visit across the state and ask these questions to the state government, he said.
BJD spokesperson PK Deb said, “Modi has visited the state about eight times and he repeats the same thing every time. He is claiming to make Odisha No1 as well as build it anew. But, he didn’t utter a single word on what he has done for Odisha and its people in the last five years.” “I don’t have any objection. We accept the challenge of both the Opposition parties,” Deb added.
