Pollution test relaxation to continue till Nov end

Bhubaneswar:  Amidst speculations over the police and transport department renewing their scrutiny of Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate from October 1, the government Tuesday issued a clarification that the vehicle owners will continue to get the benefits of Chief Minister announced relaxation until end of November.

That said, the PUC testing centres will not be allowed to issue manual certificates after October 1.

According to a press notification issued by the state transport department, “The vehicle owners are requested to get their documents ready including the Pollution Testing Certificate by end of November 2019 as declared by hon’ble CM. From 1st Oct 2019, the issue of manual PUC certificate will be stopped and the vehicle owners going for PUC check will get online PUC certificate from the vendor.”

It further adds, “The citizens can view his own PUC validity in RC dashboard in mParivahan app. The offline PUC certificate issued before 30th Sept will remain valid.”

It may be mentioned here that the department Monday had issued a statement that suggested that it might begin enforcing the MV (Amendment) Act 2019 when it comes to PUC certificate beginning October 1. Given the limited infrastructure, the announcement led to massive jams at PUC testing centres Tuesday with hundreds of vehicle owners waiting for hours to get the test done.
