Bhubaneswar: The two-day state-level Sports and Cultural Meet ‘Poly Fest-2019’ was inaugurated at Kalinga Stadium here Sunday.
The event is being organised by Directorate of Technical Education and Training under the SD&TE Department. The fest was declared open by Vishal Kumar Dev, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Tourism Department along with CEO, OSDA and Director, Directorate of Employment, Rajesh Pravakar Patil, Additional Secretary, SD&TE Department Sudarshan Panda and other senior officers.
In order to foster a healthy spirit of competition and improving the aspiration level of the Diploma students of all government and private polytechnics, the state-level meet which is the first-of-its-kind, was organised. The objective of conducting the Poly Fest is to expose trainer and trainees to competitive spirit and team work. It aims to attract attention of society and intelligentsia toward skills. Chief Guest Dev highlighted the government’s effort to provide opportunity and platform to the youth of Odisha to showcase their talent apart from competency building.
The meet will host 862 participants including 274 female participants from all 33 government and 56 private diploma institutes participating in different categories of sports and cultural events. Poly Fest 2019 would host both sports and cultural events. The students from 89 institutes from across the state from six zones namely Cuttack, Balasore, Berhampur, Rourkela, Khurda and Puri are participating in the Fest.
