Udala: Landless families living in wards 11 and 12 under Udala NAC in Mayurbhanj district warned of poll boycott Saturday.
“Give us land pattas and take our votes. Unless the government does this much work, we will not vote this time,” said the villagers.
This decision of the residents has caused worries for the contestants from various political parties.
The residents said that the NAC authorities had decided to issue land pattas to the landless people. Over 1500 people had applied for the pattas. Only, 142 landless families were given away pattas.
The landless families stage protests at the sub-collector’s office and warned of poll boycott. They accused the government and the local administration of misleading them.
Later, they held a meeting at Jagannath ground and decided that unless the government meets it promises, they will not take part in voting.
