Deogarh: Locals staged a road blockade at Kargil Square in Deogarh district Thursday to protest against the deplorable road condition in their village.
Residents of the nearby areas alleged that poor construction of NH-49 has turned it into a death trap for commuters on the stretch. It is especially so near Kargil Square.
“With the administration turning a deaf ear to our demands, we have no choice left but to agitate and demonstrate to get the road repaired,” said a demonstrator.
The demonstrators further added that emergency services such as ambulances and fire service vehicles cannot reach local villages even when the roads are dry. Moreover, the dust from the dry road makes it a tough task even for the pedestrians.
While the villagers continued to demonstrate, commuters on the stretch faced a harrowing time and scores of vehicles were seen stranded on both sides of the road connecting Mumbai-Kolkata.
