Bhubaneswar: How I Met Your Mother, an American sitcom that ran for nine years from 2005 to 2014, is an ever green TV show that engages viewers in every episode and gives the family a wholesome entertainment. Known as HIMYM, it has a huge fan following throughout the world and the series have also been done in various languages. Now, sitcom buffs here seem to be enjoying an Odia version of it, if we go by the response it is getting. Produced by Grains Media and directed by city’s popular standup comedian Roshan Bisoi, the Odia version of HIMYM is called How I Met You Bou (HIMYB ). Bou is the Odia word for mother.

When the Odia video HIMYB was uploaded on YouTube, fans of the popular show appreciated it and commented positively about the content. The video, uploaded in the wee hours of Wednesday, was watched by more than 2000 viewers in just one day. The story is set in the year 2039 where the character Ted Mohanty, which was based on the popular character from the US sitcom Ted Mosby, talks to his two children and narrates them a story about how he met their mother, which is similar to the original story of How I Met Your Mother wherein Ted recounts the events that led him to meet their mother, his son and daughter.
Talking to Orissa POST, Roshan said the sitcom was very popular for its unique take on friendship, love and romance of urban youths. “We have tried to showcase and paid tributes to the sitcom and its char
acters but also tried to add some local flavour to it. Though the video is in Odia language, nonEnglish viewers can also relate to it,” he said. The video has a few mentions about Papu Pom Pom who was recently admitted to AIIMS, New Delhi. Roshan said it is unfortunate that the comedian is in this condition. “We want to pray for his quick recovery.”
The video was shot in Central Perk 7 Café which is a theme café based on another popular American sitcom Friends. It’s a nice way of uniting two best sitcoms together. “We had finished shooting within three days at a stretch beginning April 1. Some parts of this video was shot in Jaydev Vatika and Pal Heights. In recent times, other TV series and popular songs were recreated in different ways by Odia artists. Odissi dancer Pallavi Das had choreographed an Odissi piece on the theme song of TV series Game of Thrones. Response to
