Bhubaneswar: Renowned social activist and labour leader Lalit Nayak passed away Monday morning while he was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Nayak had been suffering from bone cancer for the last six months and was undergoing treatment.
He breathed his last 5:30 am Monday morning.
He was also infected with COVID-19 earlier and had recovered, reports suggest.
Nayak was associated with around 50 social organisations. He was the president of several unions including Western Odisha Shramik Sangha, Electric Employees Association and Auto-Rickshaw Association in Bolangir district.
Nayak who was a resident of Bolangir district had played a major role in blood donation campaigns in the district.
Meanwhile, a pal of gloom has descended in Bolangir district following Nayak’s death. His mortal remains will be brought to Bolangir for the last rites.
