Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to enforce the Odisha Official Language Act in both government and private establishments, the government has decided to launch a portal to receive complaints from the public about non-display of signboards in Odia.
A high-level meeting on this was held under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan here Tuesday at the Secretariat in which Labour and ESI Secretary Anu Garg outlined issues for discussion.
Considering developments in the matter, Balakrishnan directed the Labour department to ensure enforcement of display of Odia signboards prominently in all shops and commercial establishments.
It was decided that all offices and government institutions must display signboards in Odia prominently on their premises apart from other languages, if any, within 15 days.
Balakrishnan asked the General Administration and Public Grievance department to issue instructions to all government departments and agencies accordingly.
