Post-poll violence erupts; 4 injured

Bhandaripokhari: Fights broke out May 23 after poll results were out at Jalhari Sarana of Malda panchayat under Bhandaripokhari block in Bhadrak, source said. Four persons were injured in two incidents. Two separate cases were lodged with police.

A complaint read that Parsuram Palei and Chandramani Palei were talking about something when five people—Bapi Jena, Papu Jena, Khageswar Behera, Prahallad Behera and Kalandi Behera— arrived on a bike and abused the two verbally before launching physical attacks on them.

In a counter complaint filed by Kanak Jena, a resident of Jalahari Sarana, Jena alleged that Chandramani Palei and Parsuram Palei had attacked Bapi and Papu when they (Bapi and Papu) were going to buy medicines.

All the four people were injured. Police confirmed that the fights were linked to political in differences.
