Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) Thursday evening said it cancelled the services of 11 trains, rescheduled some trains and resumed the services of six trains which were earlier cancelled due to Titli.
“Due to improvement in situation caused by cyclone-Titli and after reviewing the feasibility and safety of train operations, it has been decided to run some of the trains on normal path/route which were earlier declared as cancelled and/or diverted,” the railway zone said in a statement.
The department also cited damages that the cyclone did to the railway properties spread across the state. “Damages were reported at station buildings at various places with major damages at Palasa station. Platform shelters and Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) covers were also damaged at various places while signaling pole and Over Head Electric Masts have been damaged at some places between Palasa and Kottabomali Stations.”
Some of the trains whose services resumed included-Falaknuma Express, Howrah Mail, Nagercoil Gurudev Express, Coromondal Express, Kamakhya Express and others. While the trains which were cancelled included-Prashanti Express, Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Inter City Express, Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express and others.
Some of the trains which were rescheduled included-Kharagpur-Villupuram Express, Howrah-Puri Jagannath Express, 12277 Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express, Durg-Puri Express and others.
Train services will be reviewed again and decision will be taken according to the circumstances, railway sources said.
