Kuanrmunda: State Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena donned the role of a teacher during a surprise visit to Kumjharia High School in Sundargarh district which has earned the reputation of a model school in the state, a report said Tuesday.
Jena visit Sundargarh district to attend various government programmes.
Jena went around the school kitchen, garden, and classrooms and was overjoyed to find a clean and green environment, maintaining high standards in midday meal preparations, digitized classrooms, disciplined teaching methods and cooks wearing uniforms while cooking.
Later, he donned the role of a teacher and taught classes VI and VII. He also took part in a photo session with the students near the wall picture of Taj Mahal at the school.
Appreciating the school for its “difference’’ from other government schools, Jena thanked headmaster Sanjay Kumar Samal for bringing a turnaround in the school.
Later, when the school authorities brought to his notice drinking water problem at the school, he said a solar powered tube-well would be set up in the school. He said he will also direct a special team and Sundargarh Collector to visit the school and take stock of the problems faced by the school. Jena had some herbal tea with the teachers at the school.
Former minister and Rourkela MLA Sarada Nayak and DRDA project director Bhairab Singh Patel accompanied Jena during his visit.
