Champua: Thanks to the efforts of the Champua sub-jail superintendent, an eight-month pregnant inmate was recently released on bail from the sub jail in Keonjhar district and admitted at ‘Maa Ghar’, a Champua government hospital for treatment.
Aditya Sirka, a native of Jayantigarh area in Jhrakhand, fell in love with one Bijay Munda of Bolani area in Keonjhar district. Despite objection from her family, she married him six years ago.
Later, she was involved in a criminal case and imprisoned. Initially, she along with her two-year-old son had been lodged at Barbil jail. She was shifted to Champua sub-jail August 26.
However, the additional district and session judge had granted her bail a month ago but she could not get out of the jail for being not able to arrange the required money and a bailer.
Upon coming to know that Aditya is pregnant, the Champua sub-jail superintendent Jeevan Singh Kudada had written a letter to the Taluk Legal Services Committee. Later, a special advocate was engaged for her.
Jail superintendent Kudada not only spent Rs 3000 but also helped her find a bailer. After necessary paperwork, Aditya was released from the jail Saturday evening.
With the help of the sub-divisional medical officer she has been admitted at Champua hospital and will be there under the supervision of the hospital authority till delivery, it was learnt.
As the news spread, local residents heaped praise on Jeevan Singh Kudada for being a Good Samaritan.
