Baripada: In a heartrending incident, a woman breathed her last after giving birth to a baby inside a locked room Saturday. The incident was reported from Baripada area of Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, the woman was expecting her child Friday. For reasons unknown, she had an altercation with her husband and locked herself inside a room of their house.
Meanwhile, she started having labour pains and delivered a child inside the locked room. After being informed by the woman’s husband, her parents rushed to the village and broke open the room.
The woman and the newborn were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital. However, the woman died on the way due to excess loss of blood. The newborn baby was admitted to a local hospital where its condition was stated normal following treatment.
Based on a complaint by the woman’s parents and neighbours, police registered a case and launched a probe.
