Bhubaneswar, August 30: A musical night in the memory of legendry Bollywood singer Mukesh aptly titled ‘Naina Hae Jadoo Bhare’ organised by Saaz aur Awaz, a musical organisation, in association with Pragati, was held at Rabindra Mandap here Sunday.
Around 15 young singers along with 10 musicians sang various hit songs of the legendry singer in the 18th annual extravaganza which mesmerised the audience.
Devdas and his crew sang songs like ‘Ye dil hae’, ‘Kanhi door Jab’, ‘Ek din Bik Jayega’, ‘Tauba ye’, ‘Chale jana’, ‘Baharon Tham Lo’, ‘Dil ki nazar se’ and other popular songs.
Speaking about the event, Abani Das aka Genu Bhai said, “Every year we organise a musical night in memory of Mukesh where singers sing his all-time hit songs. We do this to preserve old melodies which are evergreen.
We have also started the old is gold event with a motive to popularize old songs. We have introduced the Amitabh Mishra award given away to both legends and young talent.”
“We started the organisation in 1980 and have been conducting such events regularly. The organisation was inactive for around five years but we regrouped and are actively promoting old melodies,” he added.
Five singers received the
Amitabh Mishra Award – SK Tamotia, Laxmikant Palit, Sudhansu Marik, Arupa Gayatri Panda and Ishani Das.
