President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Odisha on four-day visit

Baripada: President of India Droupadi Murmu Wednesday arrived in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj on a four-day visit.

Governor of Odisha Raghubar Das, Additional DG of police and Mayurbhanj Collector were among others present at the temporary helipad at a football ground in Sukruli to receive the President, who arrived there by a Special Indian Air Force flight from Ranchi.

Murmu was given a rousing reception on her arrival. Thousands of people including school children were present at the helipad to have a glimpse of the President.

During her four-day visit, the President is scheduled to grace several programmes in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Cuttack, Khurda, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur.

Soon after her arrival, she left for Ma Kichakeswari temple and offered prayers to the goddess.

Murmu is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Central Government Holiday Home at Rairangpur. On the occasion, she will also virtually lay the foundation stones for various road projects and a Sports Complex as well as inaugurate Eklavya Model Residential School at Barsahi.

The President will interact with the members of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group of Kadalibadi village at Gonasika, Keonjhar February 29.

She will inaugurate a national seminar on ‘Tribes of Keonjhar: People, culture and heritage’ and address the students of Dharanidhar University.

The President will grace the 53rd Convocation of Utkal University at Bhubaneswar February 29 evening.

Murmu will grace the 25th convocation of Berhampur University at Bhanja Bihar March 1. Later at Cuttack, she will attend the golden jubilee celebration of Brahma Kumaris, Odisha.

The next day, the President will visit various places related to Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi in Sambalpur district of Odisha. She will also meet the followers of the Mahima Cult at Mini Stadium, Sambalpur.

Earlier, Chief Secretary PK Jena directed all the district collectors and superintendents of police to make arrangements for a smooth tour of the President.
