President Ram Nath Kovind visits Puri Jagannath Temple  

Konark: President Ram Nath Kovind along with first lady Sabita Kovind visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri and the Sun Temple in Konark Monday.

They left Bhubaneswar for Puri in a helicopter Monday morning. At Puri, they were received by Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingha Deb, Puri MLA Jayant Kumar Sarangi and other dignitaries.

Thereafter, they were led to the Srimandir. Governor Ganeshi Lal and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also accompanied them.

The President and his wife went around the temple spending about 40 minutes inside the temple.

Before leaving, he donated Rs 1,00,000 from his salary for the development of the temple.

Kovind is at Konark to visit the India Oil Foundation Trust Interpretation Centre at Konark. He will leave for New Delhi Monday evening, it was learnt.

Notably, Hindi film actor Govinda and his wife Sunita had visited Srimandir Sunday.
