President’s Colours for Army Air Defence College

Berhampur: The Army Air Defence College (AADC) at Golabandh military base is set to get a Presidential honour in recognition of its extraordinary services rendered during war and peace time.

The institution has been shortlisted for the prestigious President’s Colours/Standard Award-2019, which is one of the highest honours bestowed upon an Air Force unit or squadron of the nation.

At a special event to be organised September 28 at Golabandh military base, President of India Ram Nath Kovind will honour AADC. Along with others, Governor of Odisha Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Lieutenant General Ashwini Kumar, Army Air Defence Director General AP Singh will be present on the occasion, sources said.

A full-uniform rehearsal was conducted Thursday at the AADC campus and the jawans exhibited a ceremonial parade. Programme schedules on the visit of the President and other dignitaries were also prepared under the supervision of AADC chief Brigadier Rajeev Srivastav and other senior officials.

Such awards are generally conferred on military units that are more than 25 years old. Announcement of the award has boosted up the morale and encouraged jawans.
