The latest actress to join the #MeToo movement is none other than our own Priyanka Chopra.
After several actresses, writers, journalists, directors and starlets came forward to share their agonising ordeal through the #MeToo Movement, Priyanka recently admitted recently that she faced sexual harassment in the past. However, she didn’t divulge much detail about the incident.
While speaking at the ‘Women in the World Summit 2019’, Priyanka said that sexual harassment for women has always been there, but now things are changing due to the support the fairer sex are showing for each other.
Priyanka further added that with the effect of #MeToo movement, now women are not scared or ashamed of sharing their ordeal.
“We always had a voice. Just nobody heard us. Now because of the support we are giving each other, nobody can shut us down. And that’s an incredibly powerful thing to see. Now if I have a story I don’t feel I am alone anymore – and I am not ashamed of it,” the actress said.
On being asked if she too faced sexual harassment ever, the ‘Mary Kom’ actress said, “Everybody in this room has probably faced one because it had become a norm with women.” She also added sexual harassment for women is not just limited to the Hindi film industry, but prevalent everywhere in society.
