Baripada: A tender for supplying food to patients at PRM Medical College and Hospital at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district was allegedly fixed. The Bharatiya Janata Party has sought a probe into the matter and warned of an agitation if the guilty is not punished.
Various quarters have reacted to it, alleging that the medical authorities have favoured a certain company.
The saffron party members said the medical college was set up under the central scheme to provide quality healthcare to people in the tribal-dominated district. But healthcare services are in a mess at the medical college, lamented Laxman Tripathy, the executive member of the state BJP.
Tripathy sought scrapping of the tender and warned that his party workers will stage protests in front of the office of the medical superintendent.
Reports said, the medical authorities had floated a tender (2157, December 24, 2018) for supply of food to indoor patients. Seven firms had participated in the tender. Five of them were found eligible for the job as tenders were opened Wednesday.
However, no decision was taken on which firm will be awarded the job while Tripathy alleged that the medical authorities are showing favouritism to a particular firm outside the district.
A woman staff is already mediating for the job while the administrative officer is not taking any call in this matter, he added.
The BJP leader demanded that the medical authorities look into the matter and take action against the lady official mediating in the tender process.
Hospital manager Dr Binodini Das said tenders were opened, but no firm was picked up. The tender committee will decide on this and there has been no fixing in it, she added.
