Promoting cleanliness through music video

Bhubaneswar: People from various walks of life, including celebrities, have joined hands to promote the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Like elsewhere, music videos and albums have also been released to strengthen the cleanliness drive in the state. Recently, city-based singer Susmita Das released a music video, Amrutam Gamaya, to create awareness among the denizens about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.

The music video, produced by the National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco), urges people to keep their environment clean and solicits everyone’s participation in the movement.

The lyrics of Amrutam Gamaya are based on renowned Devdas Chhotray’s Odia poetry, while Omprakash Mohanty has composed the music. Noted filmmaker Nilamadhab Panda conceptualised the video directed by Vishal Mourya and Debiprasad Lenka.

The video shows how children dissuade adults from littering at public places through their humble attempts. As many as 400 children of the capital city-based BJEM School have performed in the music video. According to the producers, it took over two months’ hard work to make the video.

Recently, Das had lent her voice to the musical video Aau Na Kara Kaha Age Guhari based on traditional tunes and rhythms. The video was released during the Utkal Divas and received wide appreciations from all quarters. Her rendition of Mayadhar Mansingh’s classic poems Maya Darpan won many accolades.
