BHUBANESWAR: Love is not something that you find; it rather finds you. Proposals, relationships and break-ups are very much a part of life for youngsters. The second day of Valentine’s Week, Propose Day, marks the time when most youngsters garner the courage to propose their crush.
On this occasion, we met a city guy Vikas who proposed long-time friend Aditi just before the day. Interacting with Orissa Post Vikas said, “Proposal of love for your significant others is one of the most satisfying feeling. I am quite excited having proposed my lady love.”
In fact, this is not the only such case. For Reshma Nagpal, a B.ED student, Propose Day is not just for couples. “It’s about any kind of proposal. One can also propose his/her friends to remain friends for lifetime,” she said.
Sneha Mohanty, a homemaker from Maitri Vihar said, “For me, the days of valentines week are no more than names. Nothing else matters if your heart is filled with love and respect for your partner. I am married for one month now. I have grand plans to pleasantly surprise my husband on the day.”
Flower shops, eateries, pastry and chocolate shops were stacked up with diverse goodies before the Valentine’s Week to make Propose Day eventful. Nandan Badajena, owner of a pastry and flower shop at Matri Vihar said, “My shop is open from 6:30 am to 10 pm. I have made all possible arrangements for couples to sit and enjoy pastries while spending quality time with their significant others.
“The spirit of Propose Day should be in all of us. It is quite a special day for all the couples out there. We should all celebrate the day amid gaiety. I often travel due to my work. However, my partner has made some special plans to celebrate the special day with me,” said Ramona Singh, Airhostess.
Whether these days are acceptable and appropriate for all sections of the society is another matter altogether. However, young people seem to have planned to do something special for their crush with carefully selected cards, sweets, pastries and chocolates among others.
