Bhubaneswar: Residents of VSS Nagar and 10 nearby mouzas, including Mancheswar, Chakeisihani and Satya Vihar, blocked the service road of NH 16 near Satsang Vihar Monday in protest against the delay in completion of the subway there.
Underground Road Sangram Samiti chairman Krushna Chandra Sahu said, “Though it has been four years since the construction of the subway began to connect VSS Nagar to Saheed Nagar, but it is yet to be completed. People belonging to more than 10 mouzas, including residents of VSS Nagar, are facing problems to move to interior parts of the city. We have requested the NHAI officials umpteen times but in vain,” he said.
Among others, local corporators Nirmal Chandra Rout, Rashmita Mohanty, Pranati Nayak, Sashmita Das and general secretary of the Samiti Dillip Dashasharma were also present. The agitators called off the protest after ACP KC Munda came to the spot and assured of a meeting with the NHAI officials within four days over the work.
