Rayagada: The 45th Durgapuja and cultural festival were celebrated with much fervour at Jaykaypur in this district, a report said. The festival was inaugurated by PK Suri, executive vice-president (works) of JK Paper Mill and chairman, puja committee and the Sanskrutik Utsav-2019 in the presence of Sundeep Pandey, general manager (HR & IR) and secretary, puja committee.
The festival titled Sanskrutik Mahotsav started October 6 and continued till October 11 during which artistes enthralled the audience with classical, folk and modem dance. People from tribal villages in and around Jaykaypur, Rayagada, Parbatipur and adjoining districts like Kalahandi, Gajapati, and Koraput visited the festival.
Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka inaugurated the festival as the chief guest and Sabana Vivek, Rayagada SP and sub-collector were guests of honour. Artistes of Jay Jagannath Natyakala Parishad, Jaykaypur staged an Odia play ‘Samaya Kahiba Bhul Kahara’ directed by LN Dalatpatiray on the occasion of Dussehra.
Jagannath Saraka, state minister for ST, SC, OBC & Minority and backward classes’ welfare department inaugurated the fifth day of the Sanskrutik Utsav.
Stalls displayed various themes including Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, entrepreneurship development, terracotta wares and community development. These stalls were promoted by RIC, Sparsh and BYST voluntary outfits. When contacted, Sundeep Pandey, puja committee secretary and general manager (HR) of JK Paper Mill said these programmes help in cultural integration of people.
