Cuttack, Jan 29: Punjab took a huge 175 run first innings lead and went on to score 282 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their second essay against Madhya Pradesh to be in the driver’s seat on the third day of their four-day final of the All India U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy cricket tournament at the Ravenshaw Ground here Thursday.

Resuming from their overnight score of 166/5, MP could add only 14 runs Thursday.

Resham Sharma, Rahul Kashyap and Prince Balwant Rai bowled well in unison to scalp three wickets each.

In their second essay, Punjab batted with resolve. Subham Gill (111) hit a brilliant century to help Punjab increase their lead to 457.
