Cuttack, Jan 22: Punjab will meet Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the final of the All India U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy cricket tournament. Both the teams made it to the final by winning their respective four-day long semifinals played at various grounds here Thursday.
At the Ravenshaw Ground, Punjab beat Bengal by five wickets. Subham Gill (131) hit a brilliant century and Pravasi Ram (51) scored a half century, as Punjab chased the victory target of 263 runs easily on the fourth and the concluding day.
At the Nimpur Ground, MP thrashed Maharashtra by eight wickets. Maharashtra chased the victory target of 189 runs easily by losing only two wickets with Suraj Sengar (87) and Mudit Bhargav (67) scoring half centuries.
