Keonjhar: Eminent puppet artiste and Padma Shri awardee Maguni Charan Kuanar passed away Saturday here at Baidyaraj Sahi after a prolonged illness. He was 88.
Apart from being a famous puppeteer, he was also a painter, wood and bamboo artist.
He created a special identity for Odisha across the world for his skills.
His last rites were performed by the district administration with national honors. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor Raghubar Das condoled the death.
Many dignitaries including MLA Mohan Majhi, former MP Anant Naik, District Bar Association President Alok Mahanta among others paid their last respects
