Bhubaneswar: Gajapati Dibya Singh Deb, the titular King of Puri, tested positive for COVID-19 Friday evening. In a press release, Gajapati’s secretary provided information about his health.
According to the press release, Gajapati Deb is healthy and shows no symptoms. However, he will be unable to attend President Ram Nath Kovind’s scheduled visit to Puri Saturday.
President’s programmes during his two-day visit to the pilgrim town are strictly adhered to Covid-19 guidelines. Thus, Gajapati’s sample was previously collected for an RT-PCR test, and his report came back positive for the infection.
According to a press release issued by the office of Sri Gajapati Maharaja, the Gajapati is asymptomatic and has no health problems. He will be quarantined for seven days, according to the report.
Notably, President Ram Nath Kovind will be in Puri for two days beginning Saturday. On the first day of his visit, he will pay his obeisance to the holy Trinity at the Srimandir, followed by a programme commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Srimad Bhaktisidhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaj.
It is pertinent to mention that the wedding of the Puri King’s youngest daughter Debeshi Devi took place February 9. She married Aditya Kehr, the son of Gurugram-based Rajeev Kehr, who is also the prince of the Vardhman Royal family.
