Puri man throws party to celebrate birth of puppies

All the formalities were followed including printing of invitation cards before the friends and relatives were given a grand treat

Puri: Most of us do not like stray dogs and shoo them away if they happen to come closer. However, here is a man with a difference. Premanand Nayak, an employee of parcel office at city railway station, not only nurtured a dog but also threw a party on the occasion of completion of 21 days of its four puppies.

All the formalities were followed including printing of invitation cards before the friends and relatives were given a grand treat. A cake was also cut to celebrate the occasion December 14.

Two years ago, Nayak had saved the female pup from a pack of dogs near Puri railway station. He subsequently nourished it and named her as Kali. “I named the female pup as Kali considering its colour. Not only me, but also all other employees of the parcel office loved Kali.”

Happiness knew no bounds for Nayak when Kali gave birth to four puppies.

“I and other employees decided to celebrate the completion of 21 days to the puppies,” Nayak said.

Nayak and his colleagues named the four puppies as Kunu, Munu, Pinky and Rinky. As many as 150 guests turned up at the parcel office to attend the party. They brought biscuits and other food stuffs for the bitch and her puppies.

“Being an animal lover, I am in pain when I find animals in distress. Very often, I attend to distressed animals and birds,” claimed Nayak who has also nurtured a large rodent at the parcel office.

Nayak has named the rodent as Dinabandhu. “I offer food to the rodent every day. It never damages parcels and other things at our office,” Nayak said.
