Bhubaneswar: Quizzing is always interesting, more so when a charismatic quizmaster occupies the stage. Ajay Poonia is one such personality who takes the business to a different level altogether. The opening day of Mettle Meet 2019 saw Poonia donning the mantle for the first time with a proverbial bang. And the participants seem to have prepared more to deal with the missiles hurled by Poonia.
A student of SAI International College, Aditi Kar took special preparation when she came to know that Poonia will be in charge posing obstacles to them. “We have studied Ajay Poonia’s methods and the kind of questions you can usually expect from his quizzes. Feels like no amount of preparation will be enough but we hope to make it to the finals,” Aditi said.
NIIT Rourkela’s Chinmay Mohanty also expects surprises from the seasoned quizmaster. “We have been participating since the last three years. We are a fresh team and have a legacy to live up to. We are more excited than nervous and can’t wait to see the surprise of a quizmaster in Ajay Poonia,” he said.
College of Engineering and Technology (CET), which has been faring well in the senior level for the last couple of years, will again take a shot at the title and for that they are leaving no stone unturned. “We have been winning the senior level for two years in a row. We certainly hope to defend our title. We know Ajay Poonia is good with India and Business (topics), so we have specially focused on these two areas. We think we can tackle him,” Ronisha Das from CET said.
However, some students feel that Poonia as quizmaster is a hard nut to crack. “Our team members have prepared for different genres. Ajay Poonia is a difficult quizmaster but we are ready to face his curveballs,” Rajarshi Singh and Subhajit Ghosh from Birla Global University said in unison.
