New Delhi: Odisha based Radio Namaskar Wednesday won national awards in three categories for the years 2018 and ‘19 for its various programmes that raised awareness among communities.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Union I&B minister Prakash Javadekar awarded Radio Namaskar for its creative programs showcasing the culture of the community.
Radio Namaskar won the first prize for the year 2019 for its program ‘Ama Priya Pakhala’. ‘Ama Priya Pakhala’ enabled people to not only adopt healthy lifestyles through information on locally available nutritious foods but also promoted vanishing traditional food diets.
Similarly, it won first prize for the year 2018 for its programme ‘Ama Khadya’, which worked to raise awareness among communities through direct broadcasting and different outreach activities with different formats. It enabled women from the local community to share their nutrition-related problems and connected them with doctors for their solutions.
It won the third prize – for 2018 — for its programme ‘Sishu Hasile Duniya Hasiba’, in the Most Creative/Innovative category. ‘Sishu Hasile Duniya Hasiba’ brings together children from communities to share their issues and interests, and celebrates children’s’ rights by translating them into dialogues.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar congratulated all the award winners and commended the stellar role being played by all the representatives of community radio stations from all across the country. He said that the aim of the government is to increase the number of community radio stations from 262 to 500 for giving further fillip to the community radio movement in the country.
