Bhubaneswar, Sept 7: The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), the youth wing of the ruling BJD, has termed Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to the state an attempt to revamp the Congress party’s ‘old age home’ in the state.

“The Congress party had never worked for the development of farmers in Orissa. It is the Congress regime in which scams and corruption reached their peak in the state,” said BYJD general secretary and spokesperson Bijay Nayak. “Rahul Gandhi’s visit is not to address farmers’ issues but to revive the Congress party’s old age home in the state,” Nayak added.

“During his earlier visit to the state, Gandhi had termed himself as a solder of ‘Adivasis’ and also attended many programmes, while his party (Congress) during its 10 years’ tenure at the Centre from 2004 to 2014 had hardly considered any plea of the state including granting of special status,” the BYJD spokesperson added.

“It is the BJD government which has made a special budget for the Agriculture sector to help farmers,” Nayak said, adding, “People of the state, especially the farmers, would never allow Congress to serve them.”
