Jajpur/Kaliapani/Sukinda: Vigilance sleuths raided the houses of a clerk in the office of deputy director of mines at Jajpur and unearthed disproportionate assets over Rs 90 lakh, Tuesday.
Accused Chinmaya Kumar Behura, is alleged to have amassed assets worth Rs 90 lakh which is unaccounted for and doesn’t tally to his known sources of income. Behura is alleged to have amassed his wealth by conniving with transporters and indulging in theft of minerals.
The sleuths formed separate squads to raid Behura’s parental home at Sukinda and his government quarters at Jajpur Road, Tata Mines office at Kaliapani, his in-laws’ house at Chandbali in Bhadrak district, his newly built house at Jajpur Road, and the house in Cuttack. They also seized copies of challans of the weigh bridge at DDM office in Tata mines at Kaliapani and its corresponding papers in the banks regarding transportation of minerals.
Three bank passbooks, gold ornaments and some documents were seized during the raid. Behura also possessed movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 90 lakh during the raids.
Jajpur Vigilance DSP Banamali Dhal and Vigilance inspector Annasuya Senapati led the raiding teams.
