Campus Buzz

Bhubaneswar: After summer holidays and new admissions, universities and colleges have sprung to life once again. Campuses are buzzing with various activities, and, of course, gossip of youth kind. To gauge the mood and know the current trend in Youngistan, Orissa POST interacted with some students of different colleges. To know, what’s up, read on.

Niharika Mahapatra, Plus II student of City Women’s College: The buzz on our campus is all about diverse fashion, music, and, of course, girls’ party. As you can see, it’s a women’s college. My friends and I get together and organise campus music for our Plus group after getting permission from the principal. Apart from it, everyone discusses the latest fashionable clothes, happening TV series on Netflix and, of course, music. Coming to college is like pure bliss where we all enjoy apart from studies.

Roshan Mallick, student of economics PG, Utkal University: For me and my friends, it’s a typical university adda where we chill and have thrills. In the evenings we speed our bikes on the campus. Life of a student can be pretty boring, so I and my friend Satya make sure to go for volleyball practice with the senior group or biking. As far as food is concerned, we jam in BMC Mall where there are endless choices of cuisine.

Priti Jena, a student of Plus III, Maharshi Women’s College: We girls have a group called Fearless where every girl can join. We enjoy great food time at BMC Mall as well as movie time at INOX theatre. Otherwise, it’s all about girls’ hangout evenings in and around the college, where we do have our khatti with special permission from the principal.

Lohit Karansingh, a Bio-Technology student, Trident Academy of Creative Technology: It’s rainy season, so we do bunk classes and go for rain dance, pool parties at selective places. The hostel life can be boring, so we have our own adda at the Bhaina’s canteen where samosa and Mexican omelets make our day. We enjoy without guilt as me and my friends do well in our semesters. So keep enjoying.

Biswanath Roul, Plus III student at Maharshi College: Life is too tough; therefore it’s vital to enjoy as well as to study. Be it street food or restaurant biriyani, there is one protocol for our college boys, never enjoy good food and movie alone. Last week we all watched Sanju at Keshari and we were around 20 students, so it was like a small picnic. I can bet college life can never be boring and our campus has its own charm.

Chhandamayi Behera, Plus III Arts student of BJB Autonomous College: It’s great to have a good chat with friends at the college canteen while watching Netflix Sacred Games online. We girls can’t have enough of the show as it’s full of suspense and thrills. Even in classrooms in the backbench the show goes on online while everyone connects to their earphone. What fun!

Abhi RamTudu, Plus III Science student, BJB Autonomous College: Rainy season has low attendance in college, so we often skip class and run away to nearest theatre for the latest flick. Class notes are supplied by the genius boy of our group Mohit and we enjoy. However, at times, Mohit also comes with us for long beach drives on bike or for a football match in the nearby sports ground. College gang is amazing and so is the campus. We also have our good activities like blood donation, Save a Tree.
