Rain likely during next 4-5 days

Bhubaneswar: Rain with thundershowers is likely during next four to five days as southwest monsoon progressed in the state, said reports from the weather department Sunday. Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail in many parts of the state during the period as monsoon is set to further advance into more parts of the state during the next four to five days, the Indian Meteorological Centre here said in a bulletin. There will be no large change in maximum temperature (day) during next three to four days and the mercury may fall by two to three degrees Celsius thereafter at many places.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur in some districts of north coastal Odisha, south Odisha and one or two places over the north interior region in next 24 hours. Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely at some places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi districts during the period, the Met said.

At the same time, heatwave conditions likely to prevail at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Subarnapur, Bolangir, and Bargarh districts. Similarly, hot and humid weather may prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati during the period. According to Met centre, a thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur Monday at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar
