Bhubaneswar: Bad weather, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department, might affect the turnout in the polling booths in four Lok Sabha constituencies which are going to polls Thursday.
The state meteorological department Wednesday predicted light rains and thundershowers in these areas. Lok Sabha constituencies like Koraput and Ganjam are likely to see light rains and thunderstorms on the polling day.
“Light rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Angul, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadarak and dry weather is likely to prevail over rest districts of Odisha,” said the IMD bulletin.
The department said that thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balsore and Sundargarh.
Bhubaneswar Met Director HR Biswas while talking to reporters in Bhubaneswar Wednesday said, “Many regions in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput Lok Sabha constituencies and other Assembly segments are most likely to be hit by thunderstorm along with lightning. Wind gusts would reach up to 30 to 40 km per hour,”
