Rajdhani Express leaves two uncoupled coaches on Kathjori

Bhubaneswar: A mishap was averted when two coaches of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express uncoupled on Kathjori bridge Tuesday.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said here coaches B3 and B4 of Rajdhani Express got separated while the train was passing over the bridge at about 9.50 am.

There was no casualty or any injury to the passengers and all passengers were found to be safe. Since the accident occurred on the bridge it took some time for the railway officials to reach the coaches.

However, the passengers in B3 and B4 coaches were shifted to other coaches and the train was taken to Cuttack for a thorough check.

The railway officials did not take the risk to allow the B3 and B4 coaches to move with the train and hence two more caches were brought from Bhubaneswar station to Cuttack station to replace the air-conditioned coaches.

The Khurda Road DRM has ordered a probe into the incident and asked the experts to submit the report in the next 48 hours.

The DRM said strict action would be taken against those responsible the sleckness on the basis of the report. The officers of Coach Maintenance Depot of Bhubaneswar examined all the coaches of the train at Cuttack station.

ECoR sources said the Rajdhani Express was ready to depart from Cuttack with full complement of coaches after special safety check.
