Ranpur: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Friday said the atmosphere in Odisha is indicating that the time has come for the exit of BJD in Odisha.

Addressing an election meeting christened as “ Vijaya Sanklap Samavesh, Rajnath said the Congress had ruled Odisha for 50 years while the BJD for 25 years but now the people of the state have made up their minds to bring a change, vote for BJP and make an exit for the BJD.

Singh came down heavily on the Congress for making baseless allegations that if BJP is voted to power again at the centre, democracy will be murdered and the constitution will be changed and amended.

The Defence Minister said when a BJP candidate won unopposed in Surat, the Opposition Congress described it as a murder of democracy.

It was rather the Congress party which murdered democracy by imposing an emergency and toppling elected state governments in the country by a record 136 times using Article 356 during their tenure.

Rajnath said the BJP has decided to implement one nation and one election in the country and favoured simultaneous elections to both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the country so that it would not only save the time of the people but also the resources.

“The Defence Minister further said the Opposition parties are misleading people stating that if the BJP voted to power and crossed the 400 mark in the Lok Sabha election, it would change the constitution.

Rajnath said he wanted to clarify that it was rather the Congress which had amended the Constitution 80 times and even attempted to change the preamble of the constitution in 1976.

Stating that “ BJP does what it says, Rajnath said since 1951, the Jan Sangh time we had decided that when we will have a majority in both the houses of Parliament we will abrogate article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and we did it.

Similarly, we had announced in 1984 that a Ram temple would be built in Ayodhya and we did it by shifting the Ramlala to the new temple, he said.

The Defence Minister appealed to the people to vote for Sambit Patra contesting the Puri Lok Sabha so that he would take up your plights and problems in the parliament and also Surama Padhi contesting the Ranpaur Assembly seat as BJP candidates.
