Padmapur: A rape victim allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poison at Belimeda panchayat under Basudevpur block of Bhadrak district Friday. A complaint was lodged with police Thursday in this connection.
It was alleged, a man from Kendrapara prawn farm had outraged her modesty. The victim was admitted to Basudevpur CHC and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital as her condition deteriorated.
Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused, said IIC Ratikant Giri.
