Basudevpur: A hatchling of the rare bald eagle (Garuda), which is also considered as the Vahana (mount) of Lord Vishnu as per Hindu mythology, was found near a palm tree on the premises of Hamuna Vatika at Basudevpur in Bhadrak district.
According to reports, when the old palm tree fell on the ground, the hatchling was spotted by locals who rescued it Wednesday. The bird has been kept inside Ram temple in Hanuman Vatika.
The bird is said to be seven or eight days old and people are feeding milk to it. However, locals failed to find its mother eagle.
Many people from the region are thronging to the temple to see the bird.
