Kakatpur: An injured owl, belonging to a rare species, was rescued by one Sameer Swain of Kahala village near Malamachha on Kakatpur-Astrang road. Sameer rescued the bird Thursday night when he was on his way home.
Sameer informed Astarang forest officials Friday. Forester Kartikeswar Munda and Baikuntha Rout reached Sameer’s house and recovered the nocturnal bird before sending it to Astarang veterinary hospital for treatment.
Astarang Ranger Jogendra Patra said the bird will be released after it recovers. He also confirmed the fact that the owl belonged to a rare species.
